But, I was strong. I held it together even with my pregnancy hormones. We got up early and when I went to wake Teagan, she held up her hand, turned over, and said "I'm still sleepy, you come back later". Hmmmm, maybe not the best start, but she did get up after a little negotiation. At one point when I asked if she wanted to go to school, her reply was "I'll go to school later, I sleep now".
This is Teagan outside her school. Such a sweet girl. She went into her class, put her backpack up, and then wanted to play. After being told where her chair was, she sat down and then we said our goodbyes. I had known this could go either way. Some days she is perfectly fine with us leaving and other days she has a meltdown for me. Today was good. She said goodbye to me, Matt, and Emmersyn. She did say she wanted to go with me, but that was just a second and I said no, she had to stay and play with her friends.I think Emmersyn cried worse than anyone when we got her in the car. She HATES not having Teagan in the backseat with her and screams when she goes anywhere alone. So funny, isn't it!?! We drowned some sorrow in fatty food at McDonald's and had Erin meet us there as she had a far worse first day than we did. (Sorry Erin)
And then it was 11 am and time for pickup! We went in and signed her out. One of the aides I know said she did really good and gave me the thumbs up...YAY!!! She even went potty and made it all day without a meltdown. I'm so relieved. I hope she loves school. After pickin her up, we went to Chuck E Cheese for some lunch and playtime. Such a fun afternoon with all of us. (Matt took the day off work so he got to come and be my "rock" just in case of drop off drama)
*This afternoon, Teagan told me she had to go pee and went to the bathroom by herself. When I went to check on her, she had pooped in the potty! She told me "now I get to go get a puppy!!!" She was SO excited. We ended up at Toys R Us instead and she picked out a stuffed giraffe. I'm ok with that as it means I don't have to get a dog....yet!
Glad she had a great first day...and awesome that you met up with Erin :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for inviting me to breakfast. Lucas' transition to preschool is going to be a rough road.
