A night out

Saturday night we decided to go out without kids and meet up with half our dinner club for a fun night out! Matt's parents came over to watch the girls and were stuck in traffic so I thought we may have to cancel, but it turned out we just were a little late!
It is so fun to go out with just adults every now and then. I felt bad leaving the girls since I had worked all day and hadn't spent too much time with them, but I knew they would be fine.

Our group met at Outback for dinner and drinks (at least most everyone had a drink but this preggo). We then went bowling and I decided to sit out so I wouldn't show them up! HA. Actually, I'm suppose to be "taking it easy" and not be on my feet much, etc, so I decided I didn't want to risk it on bowling. I ended up chatting with the girls while they were bowling and just had a fun night!
*fun fact about the girls at the table...we were all sorority sisters in college! Although it wasn't til after college that we all became super close!

Professional Pics!

We took the girls to get their pictures a few weeks ago. I have scheduled pictures A MILLION times in the last few months and it never fails that one (or both) of the girls would get sick and I had to cancel. FINALLY, we were all well enough to go! YAY!

No one told me how much fun it would be to get 2 girls dressed, hair fixed, bows in, shoes on, smiling, AND looking at the camera at the SAME time! WOW!!! The photographer took about 200 pictures and we had 4 poses I actually was willing to spend money on! HA.
The one here is my absolute favorite of the bunch! I just adore the way Teagan is with Emmersyn and I love Emmersyn's crooked little smile...and of course, Matt loves the Navy dresses I had them in! Even though we were a little frazzled, I love that we get to document the girls in more than just cell phone pictures and videos!

mover and a shaker!

We have a crawler on our hands now! Emmersyn started crawling last night and in typical fashion, I was at work and missed it! BOO. We knew for the past few weeks it would only be a matter of time. She had finally managed to get on all fours, rock some, move backwards a tad, and then topple over. I was tempted to take the week off so I wouldn't miss it, but let's face it...I need all the money I can save before #3 gets here! LOL
Most of the time she still army (or as Matt says, Navy) crawls, but she can go a few "steps" on her knees. I think she knows the navy crawl is faster!

Teagan and I ordered her backpack for preschool the other day too! In typical Teagan fashion, she wanted to pick it out, have her name put on it, and then as I hit send, she changed her mind! HA. Oh well, she is getting the original one we picked which is Tinkerbell and of course, it will have her name on it so "Emmersyn can't carry it too". Such silly requests, but whatever makes her happy for $3.00 makes me happy! August 14 will be here before I know it. Go ahead and buy some stock in Kleenex now because I'm sure to be using a LOT that day!

2 babies and a puppy???

So, after monthes of trying to get Teagan 100% potty trained, I think she is FINALLY coming around to pooing in the potty too! Today, she asked for a diaper to poop, but I was able to persuade her to use the potty!! YAY!!!! She's been in undies and dry for about 3-4monthes, but still asked for diapers for #2...I'm not sure what the hangup was, but hopefully we had a breakthrough today!!!
Which leads me to the puppy! Back in November when we brought up the potty topic, we told Teagan she could get a puppy when she went pee and poop all the time in the potty! This was before Emmersyn was born and WAY before baby #3 was even a thought...obviously! And of course, my kiddo remembers EVERYthing so after pooping today she asked when she gets her puppy! LOL....looks like we may be adding 2 babies AND a puppy to the Murray family in a 11 month time frame! We are crazy!

Sitting

Emmersyn has learned to sit by herself! She is SO close to crawling now and wants to so bad! She gets up on all 4 and rocks and rocks and then goes backwards for a second and falls! She is getting to be such a big girl!

We went to Olive Garden for dinner tonight and toward the end, E was just not into her carseat anymore so I put her in the booth next to me and she LOVED it! Teagan thought it was super cool too and insisted on sitting next to her sister! Lord help me when #3 gets here! LOL

A FIRST!!!

After a week of battling Emmersyn to take any kind of nap during the day, I finally decided today was the day I would just put her in her crib for naps! She rolled around for a while, got up on her knees, fell back down, and tossed some more (I have a monitor in there to watch) she finally fell asleep sucking her thumb and with her blankie. YAY!
**We had been letting her take her morning and evening nap in the swing and then I would take a long nap in the afternoon with her. But between getting bigger, Teagan being louder, and just everything else, she wasn't about to nap in the swing anymore and she would get CRANKY with only the afternoon nap...not to mention Daddy got crankier than she did when she wouldn't sleep! HA
Hope this continues!

Doctors, doctors, doctors

With having 2 kiddos and being pregnant, I feel like we are ALWAYS at the doctors, pharmacy, or OTC drug aisle of the stores. Emmersyn was in the ER last week and of course on Sunday I woke up feeling like crud. I have a horrible cough, tickle in my throat, and the voice of a 105 yr old man! Fun times!
Tuesday it got so bad I could barely breath with the cough and hacking every second. I decided to call my ob and set up an appointment. I have also had a lot of cramping and was slightly concerned (ok, I was freaking out in my normal fashion).
Of course, I was diagnoised with bronchitis. I got an antibiotic and some pearl things that are suppose to numb my throat and make me cough less, but I don't think they are really that helpful. They do make me extra sleepy though so I get to sleep right away which is kinda nice!
Now to the OB part....because my morning sickness went away and I started cramping, I was worried something was wrong. I've never been pregnant without throwing up all the time so I didn't know what to think. She asked a million questions, then went to use the doppler to find the heartbeat. One minute went by, nothing...two minutes, nothing...insert me freaking out internally....forever went by it seemed, nothing! She decided to do an ultrasound right then to check the baby and placenta to make sure everything was ok. (by this point, I'm in complete freak out mode)
Of course, the ultrasound showed the baby moving around fine. I heard the heartbeat (157) and saw the baby moving so I calmed down. Everything was good. The ultrasound tech asked if I were cramping right then, and of course I was. She said I was already having contractions and she could see it on the ultrasound. The doctor said I'm not suppose to stand so much at work now and to "take it easy". If the cramping doesn't stop, I'm going to be put on bedrest. For now, I'm going to the Maternal Fetal Specialist in August for a consult and ultrasound there too. We will find out the gender at that appointment, but I may have peeked at the ultrasound on Tuesday. If my knowledge is right, I may already know, but it's still a guess as they didn't tell me for sure!

First ER visit

Friday, July 6, 2012, we made our first visit to the ER with any kids! Can't believe we've had a baby for over 3 years and only made our first trip now honestly, but I was hoping to not ever have to go!

Poor Emmersyn had been so sick with the poos that I began to worry. I had called her doctor on Thursday and all they said was the stomach bug was going around and to do the BRAT diet and push fluids. (I already knew that much from already having Teagan, but thought they may offer other advice.) Thursday, I tried to feed her bananas, but she is NOT a fan of that. She had been ok with fluids though so although I was worried, I still knew she was ok...until that afternoon/evening, she refused her bottles. No formula, no water, no pedialyte, no fluids! YIKES!

Friday, she woke up with more poo and refused her bottle again. I knew it was time to take her in. I called the dr office and they said if she was dehydrated, she would have to go to get fluids at the hospital. I decided to skip the doctor and just head into the ER and save the middle man and 3 hours. Thankfully, Teagan got up extra early Fri and we were out the door by 7. I had called my mom, but she was at work and said Teagan could hang out there for the morning and "help" her!

Emmersyn and I headed a few blocks over to the ER. They did a heel stick to get blood work started. The doctor said she wasn't overly dehydrated, but didn't want to risk it getting worse quickly b/c she's so tiny and refused to eat. They also did a rectum swab to send to the labs. All the labwork came back as having rotovirus and also being dehydrated. They wanted to start IV asap, but the nurses had a hard time finding a vein to insert them. They tried both arms and both feet. Between pregnancy hormones and a screaming baby, I lost it. I cried probably worse than she did. FINALLY, they send in another nurse (#6 of the day) to try and she was able to get it in her little foot. The IV finally started around 7 hours after being there!!! She got 168units of fluids and had a wet diaper finally!

We are not completely out of the woods yet. She had to stop her regular formula and switch to soy for 10-14days. We also are watching for signs of dehydration again and have to take her back if she doesn't stop poo-ing by Monday. Today was a good day though. She didn't reject any feeds and although she isn't eating as much, at least she is eating!

4th of July and sick-o's

I spent the 4th the way I spend all holidays....working! BLAH! However, I'd rather get my time in while Matt is off to watch the girls in one long day instead of 2 or 3 shorter days! As a holiday treat, I'm only working 1 night this week and a total of 4 days so that will be nice!
After I got off work, we packed up the girls and headed up to my in laws for some dinner, treats, and playtime. Teagan LOVES playing at her grandparents house and has toys all over. She was looking forward to riding her bike, but it was just too darn hot to be outside!
Emmersyn has been battling a stomach bug for the last few days! We have been through a million diapers and outfits with blowouts and nasty stuff! YUCK. She isn't vomiting, but is spitting a lot more than normal. Poor baby! I hope she gets better soon because this mommy can not do smelly poop for much longer! I'm hoping she doesn't get dehydrated and keep offering her some pedialyte/water (dr said it was ok), but she isn't a fan. I did give her some bites of banana baby food (part of the BRAT diet) but again, she isn't a fan!
And that's all we have! Nothing too exciting! I do go tomorrow for a checkup on baby #3...hoping to hear the heartbeat for the first time and set up my ultrasound to find out what we are having!!!

Party Time

It seems as if birthday season is among us! ALL of Teagan's little playmates are having parties this month! It is so nice to have something fun to do where the kids can get out and play, and of course burn some energy!

Saturday, we celebrated at the Hamm house for Lucas' birthday! The theme was tractors and was so cute! I totally forgot to take pictures so I stole these from Erin's blog! HA. I guess that's what I get for not wearing pants with pockets!

Who would EVER think Erin would get a pinta with a METAL bat??? Surely not me, but she did! The 3-3year olds there had a blast beating it up! In the end, the big guys had to bust it open...

And what summer party would be complete without swimming!?! Teagan LOVES water! She held her own with the boys in the pool too!

Thank you to the Hamm's for inviting us to share in the special day!
