Good Bye August

Thank God August will be over very soon! This has definately been the month from Hell for the Murray family!
In case you were wondering why, I'll let ya know.
In the beginning of the month, I almost lost my job. Like VERY close to it, but thank God I have friends in high places that went to bat for me. That started the downward spiral to the longest month ever. Next, my father in law was diagnoised with diabetes....he has a severe case and his level was over 500 when they don't want anything over 120. It has been a complete adjustment for us to go out to eat with them, for them to be here babysitting, and just an overall adjustment with us.
Third, my brother in law was in a serious car wreck. We are still praying for him, but looks like he will be a quadrapalegic. The doctors are wanting to slowly ween him off the ventilator so hopefully he can start breathing on his own soon.
Last week, my mother in law went into the hospital with stomach pain. Still waiting on more tests to come back as to what is going on, but she said she's felt a lump in her right quadrant for a few monthes and was waiting til after their cruise in Sept to get it checked out.
Teagan got hurt at school on Tuesday. Not that big of a deal in the whole realm of life, but it was horrible and she still won't eat because her mouth is all ripped up.
Yesterday, I had the final straw (I hope). I had an appointment at the specialist. I was hoping to get released and just have my OB to go to, but that didn't happen. I got some bad news, tried to keep my composure while listening to the dr, had to do some blood work (still trying to keep cool), finally made it to the parking garage so I could really do an ugly cry alone and my car was DEAD!!! BLAH! Matt had to get the girls loaded up, go buy a new battery, come try to jump the car, replace the battery, etc. WORST. DAY. EVER!!!
Please pray September is a better month for the Murray Family. Hoping all the bad karma is out of the way, but I don't want to jinx myself.

Teagan's first major boo boo

Teagan gets scrapes and bruises like most kids. She falls walking and can trip over a hair, but yesterday she got a major boo boo. The kind a bandaid won't fix and a cuddle won't cure! She was at school and fell from the spiral ladder going to the playground equipment. We're talking about 3foot if not more tall. She fell from the top (based on the teachers explaination) and landed on the mulch flat on her back. Apparently she didn't hit her head and didn't hit anything on the way down, but she bit her lip somehow. And, I mean she bit THROUGH her lip.

I know this picture is disgusting, but it's worse in real life. The inside of her mouth looked very deep to me. I called my mom first thing and she met me to look and see if Teagan needed stitches. Teagan has never had stitches, but knew enough to not want them. She keep yelling "I don't want stitches!!!" Mom is the one who noticed it went through her lip. Her lip was SO swollen that I didn't even look really. Her chin is also busted up, but not stitch worthy (I knew that one) but I wasn't sure with a mouth wound if they would even stitch. Mom said either way there would be a little scar and that the outside would probably take 3-5 stitches and the inside a dozen or 2, but also said the inside would heal fast without stitches too. I was torn on what to do.
In the end, we decided that Teagan would be more tramuatized by getting the stitches and in more pain with that than letting them heal up on their own. I am taking her to the dr to get checked out later today. She complained about her back being sore last night when I put her to bed so I want to make sure everything is ok. Talk about guilt! I felt horrible for not being there when she got hurt, but I do know accidents happen.

Emmersyn is 8 MONTHES!

It is hard to believe that Emmersyn is already 8 monthes old! She is getting SO big. I'm a little sad for her to get big, but I know that each stage is so different and fun. And I also know that another baby will be joining our family soon enough!

Emmersyn , you bring SO much joy to our lives! YOu are almost always content. You love to watch people when we go out in public and rarely fuss. You are getting more dark hair but it is still growing in as a mohawk! (I give you a bad comb over usually or put a HUGE bow in to distract people from it! LOL)

You are now pulling up to standing and I think it will be sooner (rather than later) for you to start walking. You LOVE to do this yoga pose and you do it a million times a day. You also crawl like this behind Teagan while she pretends you are both lions.

You LOVE Teagan! She can be as mean as can be to you or as sweet as can be and you still light up when she's around! I love watching you together!

Stats:
You are wearing a size 3 diaper.

You wear a size 6-9month clothes and mostly 9 month sleepers

You take a short morning nap and about a 2 hr afternoon nap

You sleep from about 9pm-6:30am

You don't have any teeth but I think you may be cutting them from how fussy you have been the last few nights.

Many Firsts in 1 Night

We had a great day! We started the day doing the Sellersburg Celebrates parade with Teagan's dance school. We got her (and Matt) dropped off at 9:30am and then Emmersyn and I went and found somewhere to park and walk to watch it. Matt's parents came down to watch too! Emmersyn loved it...at first. Then, about a million fire trucks came rolling down the street with sirens, horns, whistles, and tons of noise right in our face and ears. I thought my poor baby would be deaf. (she seems ok now and it's been a few hours! LOL)
After the parade, we met up with my inlaws for lunch at Cheddars and had a good lunch. The girls were super good and food was good too! YAY! We came home and Emmersyn and I took a short (1hr) nap. Best hour of my day! Just kidding, but I love naps!
Tonight, we decided to go to sellersburg Celebrates because Teagan saw the ferris wheel earlier and wanted to ride one!

Here's some pictures of her and Matt! It also happened to be Matt's first ferris wheel ride too! They got to share a first together. They seemed to love it from what I could see from the ground. Darn pregnant lady here couldn't ride anything, but really the ferris wheel was the only thing she wanted to ride.

And, before we left, Teagan got to be a "real cowgirl" and ride a horse! She was in heaven! She kept hollering and smiling and shouting "I'm a real cowgirl!!!!" it was definately the best five dollars I've ever spent!

pictures

It has occured to me that I rarely upload pictures anymore. I am gonna be honest and say it's because I SUCK at taking pictures on my regular camera. Most of the pics I take are from my phone and then I have to email them and save them to the laptop to blog them...such a pain, but for both my readers, I'll do it! HA
We are now finishing up our second week of preschool...I think. Teagan LOVES going. I am SO very thankful she is interested in going each morning and doesn't make it a fight. I'm not strong enough to do that every day and I know she would end up staying home for another year instead. She adores her teacher and her aide, although the aide has now switched classes so I'm not sure how she'll be with the new one. She tells me all about her day when I pick her up. What she played, what they did, the songs they sang, and most importantly, the snack they had! LOL

This is Teagan before school yesterday. She has a bit of a diva personality. LOL. But, how could you not love this little face?!?!
And, while Teagan is at school for 2.5hrs twice a week, I FOOLISHLY thought I would be able to sneak in a nap when Emmersyn takes hers, but so far no luck! One day I ended up doing my grocery shopping (alot easier with only 1, but not easy when you shop where you work), one day we met friends for some pity relief (1st day jitters), and then one day I took care of all the bills and paperwork on my table. Thursday was the first day I was actually able to put everything else aside to TRY to nap and this is what I got from Emmersyn....

Obviously, she laughed at me when I said "let's go take a nap". I tried everything. Fed her some solids, changed her hiney, gave her a bottle, and put her in her crib with her blankie...NOPE! Finally, around 10:15, she fell asleep. Not bad, except Teagan has to be picked up by 11 so we leave around 10:40 to get her...that's right, only about 20 minutes! But, this preggo will take ANY nap these days! LOL

#3 Doctor

Yesterday I had my cardiology appointment. I had an EKG done and it showed no further damage from last year so I am in the clear again for this pregnancy (for now at least). YAY!
Today, I had my regular OB appointment. I had to do the glucose test (1hr) and it wasn't as bad this time as I remember with Emmersyn. Then again, I'm not as sick right now either so that probably helped! Teagan went with me to the appointment (don't ask why). I got there in time for the lab tech to draw my blood for the glucose test and for the lovely urine in a cup thing! The lab tech asked where they usually find the best vein so I pointed to my left arm, but it is covered in a rash so I suggested the right arm. Either is fine because needles don't bother me. Teagan wanted to help the tech so she got to put the band-aid on. I am so thankful my doctors are all so cool with 3 year olds going too!!
As we were waiting on Dr. Norfleet, Teagan told me she had to pee. Of course she did. She's like a puppy and wants to mark all her territory. However, there was a twist. She wanted to pee in a cup too....that's right, my 3 yr old wanted to try to pee in a cup. She even talked the nurse into giving her a cup. Ummmm, let's just say that didn't end well! LOL.
Nothing new to report on the pregnancy. She thinks it is still breech as she had a harder time with the heartbeat/doppler thing again. I have gained 1lb since last visit (3 wks ago). And my BP was slightly elevated (136/91) which could be from having Teagan there too. She said as long as my BP stays at that level, I should be ok to remain off any type of modified bedrest. YAY!

We have a stander!

Emmersyn has learned to pull up and stand on her own!!! She is getting too big! She also likes to try to walk, but ends up walking/crawling at the same time. Teagan does this when she's pretending to be a lion (which is often) so I think she is coping her big sister. Emmersyn has been crawling around like a lion behind Teagan all day! It is so cute! Teagan also roars so now Emmersyn grunts and sounds like an elephant/lion combo. I tried all day to capture a video or picture, but no success today. Hoping for one tomorrow because it's just too cute not to save! LOL

Busy week ahead

I have a busy week ahead. In addition to the usual work week, kids, grocery shopping, laundry, and now preschool, I have 3 doctor appointments this week! UGH! This afternoon I go to the cardiologist. I have to get an EKG again and make sure my heart function is still up. Luckily Matt will be home to keep the girls so I won't have to deal with Teagan and Emmersyn there too. Tomorrow, I have my lovely glucose test and then my OB appt and then I have to go to the fetal specialists again at the end of the week! I'm almost worn out just from typing this, let alone actually going! Should be a busy week for me but my reward is a Saturday off work to look forward to! YAY!!!

A simple Sunday

Yesterday was an easy, simple Sunday. Although I worked 9hrs, it went by pretty smoothly (for work) and then we decided to get out the house yesterday when I got home. Teagan has been doing really great at pooping in the potty (TMI I know) so we took her to look at puppies. Feeders Supply didn't have that many to look at, but Teagan had fun anyways. We went to look at Hobby Lobby for a painter's shirt for her for school, but didn't realize they were closed on Sundays. Oh well, not a big deal. I do have a smock I can send her in.
And then we decided to go to Huber's for dinner. I don't think Matt and I had ever eaten there together and I'm pretty sure Matt hadn't ever had their food, but it was a nice change from the greasy pizza, burgers, or mexican we usually get. Teagan ate a ton, Emmersyn was good, and it was just a nice dinner. After, we let Teagan go feed ducks down on the dock and she was in heaven. Just a nice day out with the family which isn't something we get to do much.

Once Upon A Time

Once upon a time, I was a career minded, goal orientated person. I had big dreams to be a chemist with my dad and work side by side with him. Getting married and having kids was a thought, but not the most important thing in my life.
Once upon a time, I had an empty clothes hamper. I had closets without clothes hanging all over and piled on the floor. I had outfits without spit up on them. I had hair products that did more than hold my hair in a pony tail. I had MULTIPLE things of eyeshadow and I knew where my lipstick was (gasp!).
Once upon a time, I got my hair cut and colored every 5 weeks at the latest. My bank account was fatter and my belly was smaller. Pulling an all nighter was a good thing and didn't mean a trip to the doctor in the morning. I went to bed without the constant music of a mobile.
Once upon a time, my arms were empty. I didn't know the joy of a cuddle. I didn't know the way my heart would swell when I heard "mommy, I missed you all day". I didn't know the love I would feel for another human being.
And although I'm sure not everyone and everything will end happily ever after, I find it so funny to look back to who I was just a short time ago. A lot of my "kids" at work are starting college soon and it seems as if this time of year makes me think of who I was after graduating high school and before college. It seems like forever ago. In fact, my life has changed in ways I never thought imaginable. I never pictured my life without my dad being in it. I never pictured getting married (it was a thought, just not a priority then), I never pictured cycle after cycle of infertility treatments, the adoption process and becoming a mom. I never thought in a million years of getting pregnant once, let alone twice in less than a year. I never knew how much I would not care about possessions and how much I would just LOVE my family! And I never knew I would be so sappy! LOL

First day of school

So, today was the day I have been dreading for the last 3.5 years. The day I reliquished control of my baby to a stranger. Up until today, Teagan has been in either my care or Matt's. When we do need a sitter, it has been one of our moms.
But, I was strong. I held it together even with my pregnancy hormones. We got up early and when I went to wake Teagan, she held up her hand, turned over, and said "I'm still sleepy, you come back later". Hmmmm, maybe not the best start, but she did get up after a little negotiation. At one point when I asked if she wanted to go to school, her reply was "I'll go to school later, I sleep now".

This is Teagan outside her school. Such a sweet girl. She went into her class, put her backpack up, and then wanted to play. After being told where her chair was, she sat down and then we said our goodbyes. I had known this could go either way. Some days she is perfectly fine with us leaving and other days she has a meltdown for me. Today was good. She said goodbye to me, Matt, and Emmersyn. She did say she wanted to go with me, but that was just a second and I said no, she had to stay and play with her friends.
I think Emmersyn cried worse than anyone when we got her in the car. She HATES not having Teagan in the backseat with her and screams when she goes anywhere alone. So funny, isn't it!?! We drowned some sorrow in fatty food at McDonald's and had Erin meet us there as she had a far worse first day than we did. (Sorry Erin)
And then it was 11 am and time for pickup! We went in and signed her out. One of the aides I know said she did really good and gave me the thumbs up...YAY!!! She even went potty and made it all day without a meltdown. I'm so relieved. I hope she loves school. After pickin her up, we went to Chuck E Cheese for some lunch and playtime. Such a fun afternoon with all of us. (Matt took the day off work so he got to come and be my "rock" just in case of drop off drama)

*This afternoon, Teagan told me she had to go pee and went to the bathroom by herself. When I went to check on her, she had pooped in the potty! She told me "now I get to go get a puppy!!!" She was SO excited. We ended up at Toys R Us instead and she picked out a stuffed giraffe. I'm ok with that as it means I don't have to get a dog....yet!

Ballerina Teagan

Teagan had her first dance class last Monday. She is going to Dancing Dreams studio in Sellersburg which is super convienent and close to our house. She goes at 6pm for an hour (which I think may keep her out too late) once a week. The first half hour they do tap and then switch to ballet. Teagan was ALL about being a ballerina.

This is her in her little tutu leotard. We decided to skip out on gymnastics this session for a few reasons. First, we knew we wanted to do dance this year and she will be starting preschool this week as well and didn't want to overwhelm her with too much. Second, her normal instructor, Ms. Kelly, didn't have any openings that fit with our schedules. She had a monday class at 3:30 or something weird which didn't work since I work nights. And finally, with activities and school comes tuition....I'm all about splurging, but want to limit a million fees for a million activies since we'll have 3 little ones soon!

Prayers needed

I normally don't put prayer requests out there, but this is serious and needs all the prayers possible.
My brother in law was involved in a bad car wreck this morning. Apparently (and the details are still unclear as of now) he was driving his truck home this morning and a car was tailgating him. He sped up and the car behind him sped up as well. It was 3am, they were on back roads, and he was upset because his mom was in the hospital as well, and somehow lost control of his truck. He went off the road, got ejected from the truck, and is not doing well. His girlfriend was following behind a few cars back so they were able to get help right away, but still....
As of last we heard, he has a broken neck, possible brain damage, and a ton of other issues. He was awake a bit and able to make facial expressions, but Matt seems to think he will be in a wheelchair (paralized). Please pray for my inlaws! My father in law was just diagnoised with VERY severe diabetes on Monday and is dealing with that. I think my poor mother in law is about to lose it as she is a nervous wreck (as to be expected) about him and now has to worry about my brother in law as well. They were headed out to St. Louis around 11 am and hope for safe travels!
Again, thank you for any extra prayers for the family!

#3 update

Matt and I went to the Maternal Fetal Specialist this morning and then I had a regular OB appointment this afternoon. It was a fun filled day of doctors and WAITING! UGH!
The MFS did an ultrasound so Matt was able to find out the baby's gender and then the specialist came in for a consult. The baby was breech and face down so they weren't able to get all the measurements they needed of the heart so I have to go back in 3wks for another u/s. They are making me go backto my cardiologist and get an EKG too...BLAH. I wasn't too impressed with the cardiologist last time and would just prefer to go to my primary doctor to do this, but oh well.
Dr. Norfleet just scheduled my glucose test for 2 wks, weighed me, did my Blood pressure which was great today (117/88) and the normal doppler stuff...routine visit. She has had some trouble finding this baby's heartbeat so I joked that it was stubborn like it's daddy! On a positive note, I've only gained 0.3lbs in the last 2 MONTHES! YAY!

IT moves....

I've been noticing a few flutters here and there the past week or so, but I'm definately feeling "it" move now. It's kind of freaky and neat at the same time. I always loved letting Teagan feel Emmersyn kick and I'm sure this one will be even more fun since Teagan is older (just a little though).

21 weeks!

I'm a little over 21 weeks now. It is kind of crazy how fast pregnancy goes when you have a preschooler and infant to take care of also! I have never been pregnant without having another kid though so I don't really know what that would be like...you know, relaxing, napping, resting, cleaning, etc.
I'm planning on having a scheduled c-section and am guessing they won't let me go past 38 wks again so that means only 17 (or less) weeks to go! YAY! I'm excited for another baby, but also nervous about all that entails at the same time! I have been blessed with 2 relatively easy kids and pray #3 is the same: although, with 2 other kids around I'm not sure it'll have an option! HA
Here are some stats for 21 weeks:
I am actually 5lbs less than I was when I found out I was preggo again
Morning sickness is 99% gone. I still get sick if I eat too much (hello fatty!) or with certain smells, but I can deal with that
I am exhausted most of the time, although I'm not sure if that's pregnancy related, or just life related
I don't really CRAVE anything specific all the time. I have something new that sounds good most days but it is fleeting
I can still wear my regular jeans but by the end of the day they start to dig in to my belly
I feel slight twitches every once in a while but no real movement yet (didn't feel until 22 wks with Emmersyn)

Funny things Teagan says

Teagan is SO funny. I think I probably laugh a million times a day at what she comes up with. This morning as I was feeding Emmersyn her bottle, we were talking about how great a big sister she was and how when #3 gets here, Emmersyn will be a big sister too! Teagan said "yeah, we'll all be big sisters" "I can't wait to meet Polly Wally Doodle". Crazy girl! My mom and Teagan have "named" the baby Polly Wally Doodle all the day...they are both nuts!
Most of the time Teagan says she only wants sisters and #3 is a girl. I ask her what if it's a boy and she says she'll turn it into a puppy with her magic wand. LOL. However, anytime we are out in public, she informs EVERYONE that mommy is having a baby brother....just another reason we don't tell our 3 year old everything. ***ps, she does NOT know the gender***
