We took the girls to the doctor this afternoon. Teagan has had the bug since Saturday night and we were trying to treat it at home with breathing treatments and OTC meds since we assumed it was just a cold. Runny nose, cough, vomiting, a ton of mucus, and a low grade fever. Last night/this morning the cough started to sound a little barky though so I got worried. In addition, Emmersyn woke up yesterday (wed) drenched in snot and slobber. She had a horrible runny nose and a little cough. Honestly, I was more worried about her because she is still so small and doesn't have much she can take before it is full blown sickness!
Emmersyn got weighed and I'm going to count it as her 3 month stat since she is almost 3 monthes (5 days early). She was 13 pounds. They didn't measure her so I will do that on my own in 5 days! It turned out she just has a cold. They said the usual, saline and suction, wait and make sure it doesn't get worse, and if she develops a fever give her tylenol. I absolutely HATE wasting copays to hear "let's wait and see". I mean I'm happy she's ok, but come on....
Teagan weighed 37.2lbs and was 40 inches tall! OMG! 90th percentile on weight and 99th on height! Since we were suppose to come in next Friday for her 3yr well check, we had the doctor do that too! YAY! She is right on track developmentally and socially. Working on potty training, but still a normal 3 year old! Back to her sickness: after listening to her breath, checking ears, throat, etc, the doctor was concerned with what he heard in her chest. She was tested for RSV because after a breathing treatment he still heard what he discribed as a crackling sound. She did NOT have RSV but does have a bacterial infection in her lungs. They gave her 10 days worth of antibiotics and said to continue doing the breathing treatment and to try to keep her away from the baby! Yeah, right!! Teagan is obsessed with 'petting' her sister and kissing her! And I am going to have to call and try a new antibiotic too...she threw up the first dose and refuses to take any more.
